Last night, after many players found themselves unable to access a dozen or more of their own Overwatch 2 listsand after a week of continuous problems, i saw angry fans demanding Blizzard fix things by rewarding them for their lost time. And Blizzard admitted just a few days ago the developer knew this hero shooter’s launch period was ‘disappointing’ for a lot. In an effort to ease the tension, Blizzard has now released a status update and will also be giving away some free goodies.

The developer continues to work on stabilizing the game, Blizzard saysand correction for Overwatch 2 should appear later this week. No details beyond that, but based on conversations I’ve had with other players, it seems like things like account merging and connection issues continue to hurt the game. Some even get a temporary ban ranked modes due to the outages, while others see their games crash after receiving achievements. And as of this writing, characters like Torbjorn and Bastion are not yet available in all modes as Blizzard tinker with their abilities with eavesdropping. A lot of things are happening.

The game is in a much better place than before, of course, when it wasn’t even possible to get into the game at all. But the list of incidents players have discovered since launch is impressive. Maybe that’s why Blizzard feels generous right now, compared to how stingy the general is Overwatch 2 Battle Pass is.

Here’s what you can expect from Blizzard if you logged into the game anytime between launch and October 25:

We apologize for any issues players have had around the launch of the game. To make up for lost time, we are planning to hold a few Double Match XP weekends: we will confirm the specific dates for these soon. We’ll also be giving all players who log in from October 25th until the end of Season 1 an all-new Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary Skin and Health Pack Weapon Charm. These items will become part of your collection the first time you log in during this time window.

So if you come in and suddenly get bombarded with gifts, this is the reason! Let’s hope nothing bad happens this time. Making a live service game is no easy thing, and I don’t envy the developers who are probably pulling long nights right now. So far, though it seems that every time blizzard tries to fix something Overwatch 2, something else gets stuck. For now, though, take a peek at the medpack you can use as a talisman on your weapons:
